SA triathlon champs

Terri-Lynn Penney took part in the South African Triathlon Championships in Germiston in Johannesburg on 21 March 2010, representing Eastern Province.

Due to the lake temperature been over 22° the swim took place with athletes not allowed to wear wetsuits. Many athletes seemed to struggle through the swim as they were accustomed to wearing a wet suit during the race.

Terri-Lynn Penney was one of only two Grahamstown athletes at the champs, represented EP. The seniors and age groupers competed in the Olympic distance which was a 1.5km swim followed by a 40km cycle and a 10km run.

Terri-Lynn completed the Olympic distance event in 2:40:35, finishing fourth in the 30-34 age group. Her swim time was 37:03, and then cycled 1:20:44 and then made up valuable minutes on the run, completing the 10km in 42:48.
Off to world champs

After competing in the South African Triathlon Championships in Germiston, Johannesburg on 21 March 2010, the SA team to take part at the World triathlon Champs was announced.

Terri-Lynn was included in the team to represent South Africa in the 30-34 age category.

Grahamstown athlete, Terri-Lynn Penney has been selected as part of the South African Triathlon Age Group team which will take part in the Dextro Energy Triathlon ITU World Championships Grand Final.

The SA triathlon champs took place in Germiston on 21 March where Penney finished fourth in the women's 30-34 age category. The SA team, selected from the SA champs, was announced this week. The World triathlon champs takes place in Budapest, Hungary from 8 to 12 September.

The SA team is made up of 83 men (12 from EP) and 54 women (4 from EP).

Sharon Oakley who is the chairman of Eastern Province Triathlon Association, is also one of the team managers of the SA team.
